Graduated from Hokkaido University, Majored in law. Worked as a director of investment trust department at Nomura Securities Co., Ltd.
Joined JAFCO as its founding director. He pioneered the first Japanese limited partnership legitimately on the basis of official civil codes making JAFCO Co., the first fully-fledged venture capital firm in Japan. He was also, a founder of Japan Asia Investment Co., Ltd. which supported Japanese ventures expanding in Asian countries forming joint ventures and assisting them to go public in the local stock market in each country. Moreover, he made CSK Venture Capital Co., Ltd. and made it the No1 high-tech specialized VC firm. He established the Japan capitalist club and played the role of a leader to independent venture capitalists. He has been named the godfather of venture capital industry in Japan
In 1996, he established SIP Inc. with the goal of building the first global class VC firm in Japan. He is currently, SIP’s founder and chairman.
